Neck Pain

Pain that originates in the neck and spreads down one or both arms is referred to as neck pain. It is common and can happen to anyone due to poor posture, like leaning to perform the simplest tasks. Symptoms of neck discomfort vary in intensity and length. Acute pain only lasts a few days or weeks and does not interfere much with daily activities. Whereas chronic episodes can last a while, even causing disability. Ignoring signs or symptoms escalates further problems, so it is always a good idea to be mindful of your posture. Indulging in activities that can strain the neck must be avoided. Do you have a stiff neck? Is there a sharp pain while moving your neck in either direction? Not to forget, the radiating pain or numbness that travels down to the arm is among the rest. the radiating pain or numbness that travels down to the arm is among the rest.

What Causes Neck Pain?

Many reasons can lead to neck pain, such as:

  • Any strain or muscle tension can be due to poor posture, unexpected neck movement during exercise, working at a desk for too long without breaks, or sleeping in a bad position.
  • Trauma or injury is common. Falls, car accidents, or sports injuries can force your neck to move outside its normal range.
  • Neck pain, breathlessness, nausea, etc., can be heart attack symptoms.
  • Conditions like meningitis can also cause stiff neck, headache, fever, etc. Other conditions could be cervical disc degeneration, fibromyalgia, etc.

How is Neck Pain Diagnosed?

A thorough medical assessment is necessary, including the patient’s medical history, signs or symptoms, and any other conditions, followed by a physical examination. Then, imaging tests such as X-rays, CT scans, MRIs, and electromyography, including blood tests, can be performed. One or more imaging results may be required to determine the correct diagnosis. The actual cause can be challenging, but these studies are helpful. Our goal is to provide patients with the best care and relief they have wanted for some time now.
