Pain in any part of the body can be disruptive, but when it becomes chronic and difficult to treat, it can quickly become frustrating. If you are struggling with pain in your arms or legs due to inflamed spinal nerves, an epidural steroid injection may provide relief. These injections can help alleviate pain from a variety of conditions, including cervicogenic headaches, degenerative disc disease, failed back surgery syndrome, herniated discs, pinched nerves, sciatica, and spinal stenosis. At Advanced Pain Consultants, PA, we are dedicated to helping patients find lasting pain relief. Through accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plans, we guide our patients on the path to recovery.
We begin by thoroughly reviewing the patient’s medical and family history, as well as their symptoms. This outpatient procedure is designed to ensure maximum comfort. Mild sedation may be used to help the patient relax while lying face down. Local anesthesia is then applied to numb the skin at the injection site.
Using fluoroscopy for precision, a contrasting dye is injected into the targeted area. Next, a needle is carefully placed into the epidural space around the nerves in the spine, where the medication is slowly injected. The medicine spreads to the area in need of pain relief. After the procedure, a bandage is placed over the injection site, and many patients begin to experience pain relief within a few days.
For patients who have difficulty walking, we may observe them for an extended period to ensure proper recovery. Patient care is our top priority throughout the entire process, from preparation to recovery.
Our goal is to help you return to your daily routine and live pain-free. To learn more about our treatment options, schedule an appointment with Advanced Pain Consultants, PA at (919) 800-0850.
