Migraine

At some point in their lives, almost everyone experiences headaches, which might vary in nature. A headache that causes pulsing or throbbing pain on one side of the brain is called a migraine. It is brought on by particular alterations in the brain. Often, this intense headache is accompanied by light, sound, or scent sensitivity. Nausea, vomiting, heightened sensitivity, numbness, or tingling are typical symptoms. Did you know that two out of ten people suffer from migraines? In the United States, about 39 million people suffer from migraines; however, others may believe that this figure is lower because some cases go untreated. Sometimes the pain is minor at first, but it can sometimes seem like a slow, continuous, intense ache. However, it can turn mild to severe if you are not careful.

Why Do People Get Migraines?

The average duration of a migraine attack is four to seventy-two hours or more. Although the duration of the event is unpredictable, comprehension of the pattern or development may be necessary. There are often four to five distinct stages to migraine occurrences.

  • Warning
  • Aura
  • Headache
  • Resolution period
  • Recovery

Though no clear cause has been found, research continues to indicate that aberrant brain activity may impact chemicals, blood vessels, or nerve signaling in the brain. However, migraine can be caused by a number of factors.

  • Severe heat
  • Dehydration
  • Bright light
  • Stress
  • Hormonal changes
  • Intense physical activity
  • Changes in sleep pattern
  • Smoke
  • Alcohol
  • Certain foods
  • Unusual smell
